Best Leather Solo Bags by Motorcycle Model
Best Leather Solo Bags by Motorcycle Model
A fitment guide for Sportster, Softail, Dyna, and Indian Scout riders
Every motorcycle sits differently, and a saddlebag that fits perfectly on a Softail will fight you on a Sportster. Frame geometry, shock placement, exhaust routing, foot peg position, turn signal location - it all changes bag to bike. We've been building leather saddlebags by hand in Stockton, California since 1976, and in that time, we've fit bags to just about everything Harley, Indian, and the metric brands have put on the road. This guide breaks down what actually fits what, using real dimensions and mounting details from our own product line - not generic advice.
A quick note before you dig in: “fits your model” always depends on year and sub-model. Harley in particular changed mounting points more than once - the 2018 Softail redesign is the big one. Check the fitment guide linked on each product page before you order, or contact us and we'll confirm fit for your exact bike.
Harley Sportster
Covers: 883, 1200, Iron, Forty-Eight, Seventy-Two, Nightster, and other '04-and-newer Sportsters.

The 310L Sportster Left Side Leather Solo Bag ($170) is built for the Sportster's narrower rear end. It measures 10½″/13″ × 3″ × 5″/11″ (L″ × W″ × H″) and is designed for all '04 -2022 Sportsters, including the Seventy-Two, 48, Nightster, and Iron. It attaches to the frame in front of the shock with the provided belts. Depending on your exact bike, foot pegs may need to be extended or removed for clearance - that's a Sportster quirk worth knowing before you order, not something we're going to gloss over.
If you're running a 2003 or older Sportster, the mounting geometry is different - the 311 Sportster Solo Bag ($170) is built specifically for those earlier frames.
Both are made from 10 oz US-sourced leather, hand-riveted at every stress point, and come with quick-release buckles for easy on-off. See the 310L product page →
Harley Softail - Fat Boy, Slim, Low Rider, Street Bob & More
Covers: 2018+ Softail Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob, Slim, Fat Boy, Breakout, 2018+ Deluxe, and the 2020+ Softail Standard.

2018 was a turning point for Softail fitment. Harley redesigned the swing arm that year, which moved the mounting points on every Softail model going forward - including the Fat Boy. Bags built for pre-2018 Softails generally will not fit on a 2018+ frame, they are too big.
The 318L Left Side Solo Bag ($170) was built specifically for that redesign - 11½″ × 3″ × 14″/7″ (L″ × W″ × H″), with the mounting holes repositioned to match the new swing arm. It fits 2018+ Softail Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob, Slim, Fat Boy, and Breakout, plus the 2018+ Deluxe and 2020+ Standard. It attaches to the swing arm or the sideways V off the axle nut with provided leather belts and comes with quick-release buckles. It's built for the left side unless your bike has a left-side-mounted license plate coming off the axle forward - in that case take a look at our 322L.
Same 10 oz American leather and hand-riveted construction as every bag we make. See the 318L product page →
Indian Scout
Covers: All models of Scout 2014 to present.

Our 101 Tool bag has become a Solo Bag for many of the Indian Motorcycles! They measure 10″ × 3″ × 6″ (L″ × W″ × H″) – a large rectangular tool bag that can go in many different places on the Indian Motorcycles. This bag can be made in the Indian leather that is the exact match to the Indian seat and bags or in plain black. Add white thread to match your seat. They use the old school stainless roller bar buckles, and every bag carries our trademark Indian Head Nickels as a mark of authenticity. The most popular place to put the bag is on the left side below the shock. See the 101 product page
Harley Dyna
Covers: Street Bob, Low Rider, Wide Glide, Super Glide, Fat Bob (2008-2017 models, plus 2005 and older Dynas).

Harley retired the Dyna line in 2017, but there are still a lot of them on the road, and we still build for them. The 337L Dyna Left Side Solo Bag ($208) measures 11″ × 4″ × 11″ (L × W × H) and while it was designed for 2008-2017 Dyna Street Bobs, 2016-2017 Low Rider S models, and all 2005-and-older Dynas, it will fit most models of the Dynas. It attaches to the left side strut cover with provided belts, sitting behind the shock with the turn signal staying in its stock location - no relocation kit needed. The strut cover needs a small gap between it and the fender for the straps or tie wraps to go around.
Dyna fitment splits by exact sub-model and year, so don't assume - check yours. We also build the 327L Left Side Dyna Solo Bag ($268, 11″ × 4½″ × 11″), which covers a different slice of the lineup: 2006-2017 Super Glide, 2006-2009 Wide Glide and Fat Bob, and 2006-2009 plus 2014-2015 Low Rider. It's built specifically not to work with a detachable backrest or Easy Brackets, and it does not fit 2008+ Street Bob, 2016-2017 Low Rider, or 2010+ Wide Glide and Fat Bob - that's where the 337L above takes over instead. Don't See Your Exact Bike?
What we've done on one bag we can usually do on any bag. Every saddlebag we make is hand-built to order in our Stockton workshop from 10 oz full-grain American leather - cows raised in Texas, tanned in Milwaukee, cut and stitched here. That means fitment isn't limited to the models above. We build for Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory, and Excelsior Henderson too, and we can match leather color, hardware, and styling across a full set - saddlebags, solo bags, windshield bags, and tool bags - so it looks like it came off the showroom floor that way.
Not sure which bag fits your bike? Contact us or check the fitment guide linked on the product page before you order - we'd rather answer a question up front than send back a bag that doesn't sit right.
